Copyright

"Copyright is a form of protection provided by the laws of the United States (title 17, U.S. Code) to the authors of "original works of authorship" including literary, dramatic, musical, artistic, and certain other intellectual works. This protection is available to both published and unpublished works."

— Copyright Circular 1

The United States Copyright Office provides full-text access to their Copyright Information Circulars. Be sure to read Circular One as it provides an overview of the copyright process, information about fees, duration of protection, and application forms. Search the United States Copyright Office Records for materials registered for copyright since January 1978.
