Depending on whether a patron is Faculty, Staff, Graduate Student, Undergraduate Student, or a Non-University Patron, checkout length will vary. Books in the Browsing Collection are limited to a three week checkout. In most cases, Reference Books, Indexes, and Journals cannot be checked out. The links below will assist you in determining the proper check out periods for your Library status:
Keep in mind that items requested by other patrons are subject to recall after three weeks. Materials needed for Reserve are subject to recall immediately. Until Library materials are returned, they are the responsibility of the borrower. Credit for return will be given when the material is checked in at the Circulation Services desk and the book is stamped with the return date.
UCF students who are not currently enrolled cannot check out books or renew any books checked out to them and must return the books to the Library by the due date or overdue fines and possibly lost book bills will apply. If you are not taking any classes during a semester (including Summer semesters) you are NOT considered currently enrolled.
In most cases, undergraduates may check out books from the General Collection for three weeks. If the book or other material has a different checkout period, this will be noted on the date due slip.
Materials checked out from the General Collection have a grace period of 3 days. Fines accrue from the stamped due date, but are not collected until the amount reaches $1.00 (4 days overdue). Grace periods are not granted to Reserves, Interlibrary Loans, or special permission items.
